thinking in motion
one solution. two editions.
Make your thinking visible.
See what your usual perspective misses.
Thinking harder keeps you inside the same map. Thinking differently changes it.
Some challenges remain unresolved not because we have not thought about them enough, but because we rarely see them as a whole and keep approaching them from the same position:

  • a business issue may actually be relational;
  • an emotional block may be structural;
  • a decision problem may be a formulation problem;
  • a recurring problem may be maintained by an invisible loop.
How does the method change the way we look at the challenge?
What's your dominant thinking mode?
They are not personality types.
They are cognitive positions you can activate, combine and train.
Each dynamic reveals something the others may miss.
HOW IT WORKS
stop circling the problem from the same position
Unlock the cognitive movement framework to tackle any challenge.
Formulate your Challenge
Turn a personal or professional concern into a workable challenge to explore.
Explore and Draw Perspectives
Activate cognitive dynamics to start seeing perspectives.
Build the Map
Externalise facts, people, emotions and assumptions to have one map.
Connect Dots to reframe your challenge
Reveal interactions, contradictions and loops to identify patterns.
Select opportunities
Identify realistic leverage point(s).
Decide & Act
Define next intelligent action(s) and experiment(s).
Thinking in Motion is designed to not replace your thinking but to reveal when your thinking keeps reproducing the same interpretation and to provide a more intelligent place for action.
The method trains a person to move between cognitive modes rather than remain trapped inside a habitual interpretation.

The solution develops the ability to:
  • deconstruct a challenge into elements, patterns, and relationships.
  • distinguish the core issue from its surrounding symptoms;
  • consider people, interests, emotions and contextual forces;
  • shift between analytical, relational, reflective and integrative perspectives;
  • generate several possible interpretations and courses of action.
Designed for real-life problems
Your strongest thinking mode is an advantage,
until it becomes the only one you use.
Thinking in Motion trainer is useful for personal decisions, business questions, projects, professional positioning, transition periods, relationships, communication, and collaboration challenges.
  • Personal decisions
    keeping returning to the same thoughts without progressing; saying no; delaying a decision; unlocking tensions
  • Business decision-making
    launching, changing or closing; accepting or refusing; investing or ending; changing or about giving it up
  • Project Management
    challenging assumptions, evaluating risks, identifying underused resources, pivoting or making change
  • relationships
    facing situations involving several people: conflict, disagreement, unclear roles, tensions, difficulty to understand one's reactions
  • Professional Communication
    facing a difficult conversation (recruitment, negotiation, or partnerships)
  • Professional Positioning, Career Growth & Identity Change
    challenges facing in transition periods (side projects, promotion, business repositioning)
  • Teams & Collaborations
    Defining roles & responsabilities, facing unspoken expectations, seeking reward etc.
  • Personal Growth
    understanding and expanding one's own habitual way of thinking

Meet the person who is behind Thinking in Motion
Why I built Thinking in Motion
From experience design to thinking design category.
Hi, I am Alex DEDIEU

My work sits at the intersection of cognitive dynamics, psychology, systems thinking, experience design, facilitation, and strategic creativity.

I develop solutions that help thoughtful professionals and practitioners make complex thinking visible, transferable, and actionable.

Thinking in Motion grew from this approach: instead of giving people more answers, design better ways for them to see the problem.

Your challenge probably doesn't need more thinking.
It may need another way of seeing.
